Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) (Double Delegation)
The DISEC, or Disarmament and International Security Committee, is a general body under the United Nations that focuses on issues related to international security and disarmament. These can include regulating armaments of member states, working towards total disarmament, utilizing tools to protect civilians, maintaining global peace and security, and addressing threats to international peace. In this session, member states will be focusing on two major issues within the international security sector: the increased use of artificial intelligence and what it means for cybersecurity, and the expansion into space-travel and what implications that has on global surveillance. Delegates will discuss ways in which these new technologies can be regulated or expanded upon, maintaining global peace and country sovereignty in the process. This committee hopes to be a platform for delegates to explore their unique and innovative ideas for solutions to a rapidly growing issue.
